We invite you to take the time to browse this site and to become familiar with our learning community. It is an exciting and wonderful time here at Glennwood. We opened our doors in 2004 as a newly configured school for all 4th and 5th graders in City Schools of Decatur. It is always a pleasure to offer to first-time visitors or returning alumni a tour of the oldest school building in the city of Decatur. Inevitably, they admire the beauty of the 1913 facility made new through an extensive renovation in the 2002-2003 school year. Yet far more pleasing are the reactions our visitors have toward the Glennwood students and faculty they encounter.

Building on a rich tradition of excellence, the learning atmosphere is one that is warm, inviting and very family oriented. We challenge students each and every day to excel in their studies, activities and relationships. We are constantly looking to uncover the individual brilliance of each child and move closer to the school district's educational goals of excellence for every student.

Glennwood Academy is an International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) Primary Years Programme (PYP) Candidate School. The PYP combines the best research and practice from a range of national systems with a wealth of knowledge and experience from international schools to create a relevant and engaging educational framework for all children. We look forward to the 2007-2008 school year ahead as Glennwood moves toward full authorization as an IBO Primary Years Programme School.
